Terms & Donations
The short version. The course is free and stays free. Donations are voluntary, buy nothing, and unlock nothing — every lesson, every practice question and every download is available to everyone whether they give or not. If you donate and change your mind, ask and we will refund it. No questions, no time limit.
What Preflight is
Preflight is a free study course for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot knowledge test, written and published by Delaware Valley Drones LLC. Using it means accepting these terms.
It is training material, not legal or regulatory advice
The course explains the regulations as we understand them, with citations, so you can look things up yourself. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for the regulations. The rules change, and the authoritative source is always the Federal Aviation Regulations and the FAA's own published material.
We do not guarantee that you will pass. No course can. Studying here does not create any entitlement to a certificate, and we are not responsible for exam results, testing-centre fees, or decisions made in reliance on the material. You alone are responsible for flying legally and safely.

Accounts
An account is optional; the whole course is readable without one. If you create one, keep your password to yourself and give us an email address you actually control — it is the only way to reset a password. You may delete your account at any time from the account page, which erases your profile and all of your study progress immediately. We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the site or to harm other users, which in practice has never been necessary.
Donations
Donations are entirely voluntary contributions toward the cost of writing and running the course.
What a donation gets you: gratitude. Nothing else. There is no premium tier, no extra content, no ad-free upgrade, no certificate, no priority support, and no feature that is gated behind giving money. This is deliberate — a free course with a paid tier is not a free course.
How payment works: donations are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach this site. You can give once, or monthly.
Cancelling a monthly donation: use the Manage button in the header when you are signed in, which opens Stripe's billing portal where you can change your card or cancel. Cancelling stops all future charges. If you would rather we did it for you, email us and we will.
Refunds
If you want your donation back, ask and you will get it back. Email [email protected] from the address you donated with, or tell us the date and amount. We will refund it in full. We will not ask why, there is no time limit, and you do not lose access to anything — the course was free the whole time.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe, and typically take a few business days to appear depending on your bank. If a monthly donation is refunded, we cancel the recurring charge at the same time unless you tell us otherwise.
Donations are not tax-deductible. Delaware Valley Drones LLC is an ordinary business, not a registered charity or a tax-exempt organisation. A donation here is not a charitable contribution, and we cannot issue a receipt claiming otherwise. If your situation is complicated, ask your own tax adviser.
The material itself
The lessons, diagrams, practice questions and study guide are original work and remain the property of Delaware Valley Drones LLC. You are welcome to study from them, print them, and use them to teach yourself. Please do not republish or resell them as your own. Quotations from the Federal Aviation Regulations and other government publications are in the public domain.
Availability
We intend to keep the site up and current, but it is offered as-is, without any warranty. There is no uptime guarantee, and the site may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. To the fullest extent the law allows, Delaware Valley Drones LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site; where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have donated in the previous twelve months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, and the courts of Pennsylvania have jurisdiction over any dispute. Before that, please just email us — almost everything is fixable that way.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change never applies retroactively to a donation already made.
